Another Save Our Small Business Success Story Aided by Access Plus Capital

The Bone Store is all about health and wellness, their mission is to improve the way we walk, move, sit, and sleep. The majority of their customers come in with a doctor’s prescription or are repeat customers. Almost overnight, their main demographic was told to stay indoors and not leave their homes. As a business that caters largely to customers 65 and older, the news was concerning.
 
“When our world got turned upside-down in March, we were really worried. We knew this would have a huge financial impact—we just didn’t know how devastating it would be.” Karter McKinlay, CEO and co-owner of The Bone Store said. 
 
Thankfully, co-owner Todd Bradshaw’s wife heard about the ​City of Fresno’s Save Our Small Business Loan to Grant program. Immediately they filled out the application and were told to wait to hear back. Karter said of the application process, “The process was so seamless, easy, stress-free and wonderful. I was amazed at how quickly I received email responses.”  
 
During the pandemic, The Bone Store had to shift the way they reach their customers. They began to offer free doorstep delivery, called patients to let them know they were still open, and created new ways to keep their staff busy and working. With locations in Fresno, Visalia, and Stockton, The Bone Store had quite a few employees to keep busy.   

The funds provided by the Save Our Small Business Loan to Grant Program were really life-saving for our business,” Karter said, “It’s very hard to run a business when you have to look at your bank account and decide: who am I going to pay? How much can I pay them?” The ability to pay employees, make good on rent, and keep their doors open, was a huge relief for The Bone Store.
